The Sunrise Mountain boys soccer team rolled over Virgin Valley, 8-0, Tuesday. The team has a 7-0-1 record in the Class 3A Sunrise League and has already clinched first place in the conference.

Senior Jonzo Jimenez led the team Tuesday, scoring three goals against the Bulldogs.

“My point of view is its always a good thing that we win the game,” Jimenez said, “especially since we won the game 8-0, but at the same time it’s bad because winning games 8-0 all the time makes a high score and it isn’t the best for the team.”

The boys scored four goals in the first half and four goals in the second half. Jimenez is proud that he scored the most goals during the game.

“Well it feels good always scoring because it benefits the team but it’s a team sport so whenever I score or someone else scores it feels just as good,” Jimenez said.

The team got two goals from seniors Luis Luna and Angel Arreola in the victory. Senior Eric Guillen-Parente added a goal as well.

Although they won the game Jimenez feels there are still some things the team can improve on for the next game.

“Just our work ethic we could improve on, because whenever you start winning games by a lot, our whole play and work ethic goes down so, we need to keep it constant.”
