Halloween is day celebrated by many, especially the children every year. People go from house to house asking for candy.

Saying trick or treat and waiting for strangers to give you candy, but how safe is that? Everyone is in costumes and anyone can take you.

“Because if you go trick or treating with kids everyone is in costumes then there is a good chance of you losing them,” sophomore Leslie Herrera said.

Another safety issue surrounding Halloween is the candy. You take candy from strangers even though growing up you were told not to take anything from strangers.

Also there have been reports that people have been putting bad things into the candy. Poisoning candy has been a trend these last couple of years.

Parents should be very aware of that and should check their children’s candy no matter what time it is. A lot of parents put it off and eventually forget about checking the candy and then children end up eating bad candy.

“They should always worry for their children’s safety no matter what holiday,” Herrera said.

Also with it being dark outside you can end up going to a place where you don’t know where strangers can do harm to you.

So this Halloween everyone should be careful of who they trust and take candy from. Be aware that some people are not always nice.
