It’s been a week since the girls soccer team took a 2-2 tie into overtime, but fell short of a trip to the Class 3A State Tournament. The team is still disappointed that they lost their regional semifinal matchup with Pahrump in a shootout, which ended their season.

“It truly is devastating not going to state because we had the team to win region and I know if we had extra 5 minutes we would have scored” said senior Brisa Caamaro. “Everyone says everything happens for a reason but honestly I feel like we were supposed to win”.

The Miners trailed 1-0 early and didn’t score until second half. Sophomore America Zacarías gave the Miners their first goal, followed by senior Alexandra Trinidad.

The girl’s season ended short, shorter than they thought. The girls practice every day giving it their all but couldn’t complete their mission for a chance in state.

The Miners qualified for state last season, including winning the regional title, but needed Thursday’s win to advance to the state tournament.
