It’s never easy starting out as a new coach at any school, but the football team’s coach McNulty feels that his first year here at Sunrise Mountain was a success.

While the Miners record may not indicate it with a 3-7 record, the team won some key conference matchups that allowed Sunrise Mountain to claim a fourth-seed in the Class 3A Southern Regional tournament.

“The goal for next year is to have more improvement,” McNulty said “I want the team to know what their strengths and weaknesses are while playing.”

McNulty wants to make sure that by next year, the team can take that next step in their development.

“These teammates were good this year, they really get to know each other,” McNulty said “You can really count on them for everything.”

McNulty said that as he really enjoyed having them this year.

“Honestly it is fun being a coach,” McNulty said “It really is different from boring classrooms. This is really outgoing for me to do. Yes, I would want to be a coach still at Sunrise. I have been a coach for 32 years and I want to continue doing it.”

Hopefully coach McNulty stays here at Sunrise Mountain. It is a pleasure having such a good sport with lots of good support.
